Emerald, Diamond, Platinum, 18K Yellow Gold Necklace

This show-stopping diamond, emerald and platinum necklace centers a beautifully hued round cut emerald weighing approximately 25.00 carats. The emerald is flanked by 184 diamonds of varying cuts, weighing a total of over 39.00 carats. The stones are set in an articulated platinum, linked necklace mounting that measures 16 1/2 inches. Purportedly, the jewels were hand selected in Hong Kong to create the one of a kind piece. The emerald and diamond necklace will be offered at an auction estimate of $60,000-80,000.

Erle Loran, "The Docks," Oil Painting

Erle Loran's "The Docks" will be sold in Michaan's October estate auction as lot 115. Loran was a local art fixture in the Bay Area, becoming the leader of a group of painters known as the "Berkeley School." He was also the head of the Berkeley Art Department for approximately 30 years, with his painting students including Richard Diebenkorn and Sam Francis. Loran's work has been held by the Smithsonian Institution, the Los Angeles County Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. "The Docks" will be auctioned at an estimate of $800-1,000

An Export Lacquered and Gilt-Painted Game Box

A Chinese export card and game box containing various implements is featured in June. This set contains four small boxes of similar decoration, sixty-eight counters, or chips, and eight trays in the manner of playing cards. The highly collectible mother of pearl chips are one of the most valuable components of the set, delicately carved as fish, rectangles and oblong forms with pictorial designs. The black and gold lacquer and gilt painted box is handsomely decorated by village scenes with sprays of flora and fauna. Finished by carved, baroque style legs, the piece will be auctioned at an estimate of $750-1,000.

Fritz Piquet & Buchmann 18K Yellow Gold Repeater Chronograph Pocket Watch

At the forefront of the timepiece selection is this unique Fritz Piquet & Buchmann pocket watch. The 18 karat yellow gold chronograph repeater is in wonderful working condition as it still audibly chimes. Fritz Piquet & Buchmann won multiple awards for their timepieces, including first place in complicated watches in Geneva Timing Competitions as well as in the 1888 Geneva Observatory Timing Contest. Today, these timepieces are valued by collectors as coveted novelties as well as for their distinctive craftsmanship. The Fritz Piquet & Buchmann pocket watch will be auctioned in the March sale at an estimate of $2,000-3,000.

Frank Lloyd Wright Leaded Glass Panel

This circa 1902 to 1903 Frank Lloyd Wright leaded glass panel carries with it quite a distinguished provenance. Once held at the Ward W. Willits residence, the piece was part of the iconic structure known as Wright’s first true Prairie style house. It then made an appearance at Christie's, New York in 2009 and continued onto Japan's famed Garden Museum Collection. The geometric design panel measures approximately 67 inches in height with a 30 inch width and remains in excellent condition. The Frank Lloyd Wright leaded glass panel will be offered in Michaan's October Arts and Crafts Auction as lot 3102 at an estimate of $25,000-35,000.

Enamel Gold Knights Templar Medal

This authentic Knights Templar Commander medal will be sold in September at an auction estimate of $900-1,200. The 14 karat yellow gold medal is fashioned as three main articulated pieces, each with a distinct design scheme. The top features garnet cabochons as well as black and white enamel. Upon the middle is a lengthwise nameplate, reading "WOODLAWN." A small red enamel cross then precedes the most substantial link, a large cross bearing elaborate engravings, enamelwork and decoration, finished by a white stone. A pair of small 10 karat yellow gold Sigma Chi fraternity pins completes the lot, lot listed number 180.

Exhibition and Presentation Grade Multi-Blade Knife

This excellent multi-blade exhibition knife is of a fine presentation grade. The piece features engraved bolsters, faceted blades, a variety of accessories and pearl grip panels. One of the most prominent features is the four and a half inch spear point and lockable blade, measuring three-fourths of an inch in width at its widest point. Faceted blades are finely engraved and accompanied by fourteen accessories, including a corkscrew and scissors. This choice multi-blade knife will be sold in Michaan's Fine and Collectible Knives Auction on September the 6th as lot 2295 at an estimate of $30,000-40,000.

Francis Luis Mora, "The Pirate & the Prisoner, 1906," Oil Painting

Highlighting the June 7th fine art offerings is this Francis Luis Mora titled "The Pirate & the Prisoner." The oil painting shows two children, very likely the artist's niece and nephew, playing out the title scenario. The piece is dated to 1906 and bears identifying exhibition labels from the Oakland Museum and the Museum of History in Los Angeles. Mora's works are currently held in or on display in thirty-four museums and he has won numerous medals and awards within the New York artistic community. "The Pirate & the Prisoner" will be sold at an auction estimate of $25,000-35,000.

Frederick William Becker, "Cypress Tree" Oil Painting

American Frederick William Becker's "Cypress Tree" is a featured piece of the fine art selection. Becker has become quite popular at auction in the States as his landscapes and murals have found a solid collector following. In this vibrant realist landscape oil the artist masterfully juxtaposes two natural subjects. A cypress tree is depicted on a seaside cliff with many of its branches clinging to the earth, helping to stabilize its position. In contrast, the ocean is seen in the background, fluid and effortless in nature. The painting will be offered at an auction estimate of $2,000 to 4,000.

Finn Juhl Carved Wooden Bowl

Highlighting September's modern design lots is this Finn Juhl carved wooden bowl. The sculptural salad bowl is fashioned in lathe turned solid teak and is of its original finish. The classic design bears an undulating rim and flared body, all resting upon a circular plinth. This Danish modern bowl was created from a single piece of wood, making it an especially coveted collector piece. Manufactured by Magne Monsen for Kay Bojesen in the 1960s, the piece bears an original stamp denoting "Design Finn Juhl, Teak, Kay Bojensen, Denmark." The Finn Juhl bowl is slated for sale as lot 786 at a very conservative auction estimate of $2,000-2,500.
