The plate is skillfully potted and features a decoration on the interior depicting a phoenix in flight among the scrolling leaves of two large peony blossoms. The exterior is well painted with a pair of phoenix and scrolling lotus motifs, while the everted rim is adorned with a narrow band. The plate bears a six-character mark on the recessed base.
Diameter 7 1/2 inches (19 cm).
