A Nepalese Gilt-Bronze Seated Sakyamuni Statue

Seated in dhyanasana with two legs crossed on a lotus throne, his right hand in bhumisparsha mudra holding a flower branch, left hand holding an alms bowl in dhyana mudra, his face in a serene downcast expression with high arching eyebrows above heavy-lidded eyes and a long triangular nose above a small mouth, his hair is painted in blue pigment and tightly knotted rising to a small domed ushnisha, large pendulous ears framing his head and robes draped over his shoulders.
Approximate height: 7 1/4 inches (18.4 cm).
Condition: Patina and wear. Ask the Asian Art Department for more information.
