Group of Two Tibetan Thangka Paintings






Lot: 3413

The first is a hand-painted Thangka with distemper on cloth, depicting Shakyamuni Buddha wearing a red robe seated on a red lotus seat. Shakyamuni is seated in a meditation pose, with two legs crossed at the ankles and the soles upward. The two hands are in mundra posture placed close to the chest. The background features peonies and leaves, and four various Buddhist figures are on the four corners. It is mounted on a purple brocade scroll. And the second is a Mandala Thangka of five circles, with the one in the middle featuring a seated Buddha while the rest four circles render various geometric shapes. It is mounted on golden brocade, with inscriptions on the back.
Largest image size: 20 3/4 x 14 1/4 inches (52.7 x 36.1 cm).
