Native American Nez Perce Spontoon Gunstock War Club

Rifle stock construction, triple notched spontoon blade held into place by an iron spot pin shaft is stained red and decorated with small heart and tepee brass trade tack designs, additional tack decoration to both ends the butt with black, red, and green painted zig- zag motif hide drop with beads.
With red DAVID HOWARD TRIBAL ART sticker.
Approximate dimensions: 28 1/4 inches long..
Provenance: The piece was owned by Saul Sol Webb a Warrior from the Nez Perce in the late 19th century to early 20th century and was handed down through his family. The war club was purchased directly from Jimmy Webb, son of Sol Webb, of Pendleton, Oregon and was originally part of the collection of Bessie Cawapoo daughter of Luke Cawapoo a Nez Perce Chief. Published on the Trade Axe and Tomahawk Collectors Association website on page 8. Ex-North American Auction Company Lot 0149 January 14th 2017.
Condition: Surface wear throughout, patina to metal components.
