Victorian Blue Silk and Velvet Dress with Bustle

Circa 1880.
Afternoon dress, the dress front with multiple pleats to each side of button placket, and twenty-three steel and gilt metal buttons down the front. With velvet trim to side panels, wrists, and gathered, puckered hem. Lace to collar. To the back, a ribbon belt forming a bow. Brown cambric lining, and waxed linen to hem. Sold together with a wire bustle form, and wire and tape hoops.
Approximate diensions: 30 1/2 Bust. 29 Waist. 58 L. from shoulder to hem. Please note this is a tight fitting style, with little give to the fabric.

Condition: Two of the silk pleat edges are split open, near button placket. Some of lining to the skirt has been cut out of the garment. The dress has been altered for at least two different sizes of woman. Several splits to fabric to dress sides and back, the longest about 4 L. Short split to top of one sleeve near armhole.
