Notes: Frame has wear, approximate dimensions - framed: 49-1/4 x 37-1/4 inches. Bio: Born in 1925 in Oakland, CA, his father Louis was also a painter as well as his stepmother Edna Stoddart. After attending the CA College of the Arts in Oakland, his work spanned from pure abstraction to plein-air landscapes. In the 1970s he became part of a group of artists in the Bay Area, who revived more traditional painting styles, known as the Society of Six.Exhibition History: Artists works have been exhibited in the Arts of San Francisco Show at the San Francisco Museum of Art. the 1959 Annual Exhibit of Contemporary American Paintings, Whitney Museum of Art, among others. His work is in the collection of The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Fine Art Museums of San Francisco, Oakland Museum of CA, among others.
