Condition: Minor surface dust, accretions, paint loss showing slight puncture at upper right, canvas lightly loose, no visible inpaint under UV light brown spotting on canvas, patch at center, minor dirt pockets, and no keys verso.
Notes: Frame has wear, approximate dimensions - framed: 12-5/8 x 18-5/8 inches. Bio: American impressionist artist who both lived and painted in San Diego, CA. In 1887, his family immigrates to NY. In 1897 he studies at the National Academy of Fine Art. He also studies under William Merritt Chase. After establishing himself as a painter, he moves to California in 1909. Captivated by San Diego and southern California he becomes an integral figure of the southern California landscape school. The artist wins the Hallgarten Prize, National Academy of Design in 1900 and later the Gold Medal at the Panama-California Exhibit in San Diego in 1915/16. His work is in the permanent collections of The Houston Museum, Texas, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Laguna Art Museum, and The San Diego Museum of Art.
